Meet Max Kaluza, a playlister from London, England.
“I made this playlist because I just really liked the American rap scene back in 2014. The artists I mostly listened to were in the YMCMB collective so I figured that was a good name for it and it grew from there.”
What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?
I think the question is what I didn't listen to! The first sort of music was on a walkman I got from my dad. Listened to everything from sea shanties to Linkin Park to 2pac. I really had a taste of everything but rap was the main course.
What’s more important to you, music or lyrics?
Music 10000%! I mean good lyrics make a great song but if the beat isn't on point it's just not there.
If you were a singer or if you are, what current living artist would you like to collaborate with?
I do occasionally make some deep house tunes just for fun. I don’t post them though, I just make them for fun. As far as an artist I’d collab with I’d say MK or Marc Kinchen.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to and why?
Woodstock 2011 to see The Prodigy. They had to fly in on a helicopter because the crowds were so huge.
What is the last song you listened to?
YNW Melly Murder on my Mind.
