White People Music

Meet Mitchell, a 24 year old from North Carolina.
“Honestly, I thought it would be funny, it started as a thread on Twitter. I was including 30-second snippets of each song and a funny caption about it, people eventually started asking for a Spotify version.”

What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?

While growing up, my dad drove the family minivan and thus controlled the CD player. He only allowed 3 bands; Dave Matthews, Genesis, and Queen so I know the words to probably 90% of their songs. When iTunes first launched and the original iPod Shuffles came out, he put us on to 70s and 80s classic rock, lots of Led Zeppelin/ACDC/Van Halen. I didn’t find my own taste in music until middle school.

Name one of your favorite albums of all time?

Green Day’s American Idiot is the first album I ever owned, so it holds a special place in my heart. Overall though I would have to give the title of my favorite to Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Do you play any instruments? If no, which instrument do you wish you could play?

I played the piano for 8 years growing up, and the guitar for 4. Now I only play the piano enough to be able to break out a Sam Smith or Rihanna song when the situation presents itself.

What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?

I don’t think this counts but I just saw Hamilton pretty recently and damn. Worth the hype.

What artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?

Chester Bennington, the late singer for Linkin Park. I had a massive angst teen phase and Linkin Park was a favorite., the news of his death was pretty crushing. I guess I’d just like to thank him more than anything.
