Waking Up Slowly

Waking Up Slowly

Meet Rebecca, 22 years old from Kingwood, TX
“After my alarm goes off, I like to immediately start my day off with music. Something I can ease into. Not too loud or dancey. I was looking for a playlist with soft, happy, mostly acoustic music. I couldn’t really find a playlist that I loved, so I decided to make one myself. Now I have that playlist as my morning soundtrack in the background as I sip my coffee and get ready. Kind of sets the tone for the day for me.”

What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?

Both are very important, but lyrics really resonate with me. That’s why I really admire Ed Sheeran. I think he is incredibly vocally and musically talented, but his lyrics have always stood out to me. Lyrics give us something to relate to whether that’s a story or a feeling. The words of a song are what get your emotions involved, it’s what connects to your heart. Lyrics tell you what the artist is expressing and I think it’s the loveliest part of a song.
