Meet 24 year old Alex from Texas, but currently living in LA.
“Initially I made my playlist so that I could listen to all the artists on Spinning Top Records roster, plus any artists that have inspired those bands.”
What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?
I grew up listening to a lot of classical music and jazz, mostly due to my parents vast record/cd collection. I also listened to a lot of classic rock and oldies growing up too, but the first bands I think I was really into would be Green Day and Blink 182.
Name one of your favorite albums of all time?
This is a hard question but I think it would have to be the second Tame Impala album "Lonerism". It helped realize that feeling lonely and like an outcast was a totally valid, universal feeling and that great art can come out from loneliness.
What artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?
I would love to be able to interview legends like, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Mark Ronson, The Beatles, and Mick Jagger. But another really interesting artist I would like to interview would be Tim Presley from White Fence, I really like all the work that he is doing.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
I have been to countless concerts but the one that I constantly go back to in my head was Tame Impala's set at Sasquatch 2013. They played an extended set with a song that I had not previously heard before and I remember it blowing my mind and having an amazing time with the people that I had met there.
Name your top 3 favorite artist and why?
This has changed over the years but the artists that have always been constant in my life are Tame Impala, Dumbo Gets Mad, and Tim Presley's White Fence. Thanks!
