Meet Cameron, a 16 year old Spotify playlist curator from Pennsylvania.
“Making playlists simply lets me show other people the music I like. However, playlists to me are much more than just a bunch of songs put together. They allow for people to discover new artists, and they also give curators like me the opportunity to send a message or evoke some type of emotion.”
What music did you listen to growing up?
Hip-Hop & Alternative Rock.
If you could interview any artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?
I would interview Lil Peep. I discovered him while he was still an emerging SoundCloud artist and being able to watch him evolve was inspiring. I feel like he was such a unique artist who has influenced most of those around him and those who listen to him. He was someone who had gone through a lot, but then was able to turn his hardships into success and allow listeners an insight into his deepest thoughts, something that everyone found admirable. Along with that, he made himself vulnerable to his audience, allowing for listeners to make a deep connection with his music and his messages.
Who do you want to see live in concert before you die?
I definitely would like to see Lil Uzi Vert in concert before I die.
Who are your more recent favorite artists?
Currently my favorite artists are Lil Tracy, Lil Tecca, and Iann Dior.
Why do you like listening to playlists?
Playlists are a way for fans to create a compilation to convey a message or emotions, similarly to how artists are able to create albums and spread their messages. Playlist curators have the ability to provide new meanings to songs as a result of careful placement. Moreover, listening to playlists gives an opportunity to discover new artists that you can connect with.
