Meet 40 yr old Kate from Las Vegas.
“I was never able to find a good playlist of of all the riot girl bands I grew up loving. I also added many current bands with the same feel or who seemed to be influenced by riot girl bands, so I just made mine own. Just like one of my old mixed tapes, but longer.”
What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?
I grew up listening to my parents record and 8 track collection that included a lot of psychedelic 60s rock and Motown. I also got into punk pretty early on my own.
Do you play any instruments? If no, which instrument do you wish you could play?
Yes. I play guitar and bass. I currently play guitar and sing in the Negative Nancys.
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
I think the best concert I attended was Jawbreaker in 1995 at The Abyss in Houston, Texas. It was right after the Dear You album was released. Despite most people hating that album, I loved it. Jawbreaker is tied with the Dead Kennedys as my all time favorite band.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I also make jewelry. I can weld and silversmith. I turned cat poop into metal once. Then turned it into a really shitty necklace.
Do you have a life slogan?
To keep learning. You have to keep learning to keep growing as a human. Once you quit learning, you stay stuck where you are at.
