Meet Jack Palmer, 21 years old from London.
“I made the playlist last year, as I wanted to put together all the great UK Garage bangers of the 90s and early 00s and some of the more underground UKG tunes that don’t often appear on compilation albums and playlists.”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
I grew up listening to the soul, funk and blues of the 70s and 80s, like James Brown, Bill Withers and all the Motown acts. I also love EDM, UKG and jungle music.
At the moment, I’m listening to a lot of Conducta, a British DJ bringing back 2-step and UKG, as well as Loyle Carner and Jorja Smith. Also a big fan of Nightmares on Wax.
What is the best concert you have ever been to?
The Prodigy at T in the Park in 2015. By far the best set I’ve been to from beginning to end – those guys just knew how to put on a live show. The crowd were going absolutely mental as well! Glad I got to see them live before Keith Flint passed away.
Do you have a life slogan?
You do you and I'll do me. Be yourself, really.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
Friday – Rebecca Black. I’m pretty sure that song was designed to be irritating.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
Definitely the music. As a drummer, I feel like the beat is so important to making the song work and getting you up on your feet.
