Meet Jake Beinart, 22 years old from St. Louis, MO. .
“The playlist is actually computer generated each week on Fridays of the latest new releases in the indie community (from the indieheads subreddit), and I originally made it only for myself to discover new music easily and keep up with releases. It's grown a lot and I've gotten a lot of really good feedback from the community which always feels good!”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
One of my favorite songs is Impossible Soul by Sufjan Stevens, because it's basically an entire EP in one 25 minute song. I'd call it the soundtrack to my life because it's got it all: life, love, sadness, and triumph.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
I have a hard time separating art from artist, so any artist who is openly unrepentant and doesn't take responsibility for their actions annoys me.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
I can like a song for only the musical content, but I think the lyrics are really what takes me from liking a song to a song having a strong emotional effect on me.
I'm not sure I can name just one, but some all time favorites are Sufjan Stevens, Fleet Foxes, Foster the People, and Vampire Weekend.
If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be? (Dead or alive)
Maybe Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. I'd really like to get a glimpse into what goes on inside that man's head. Talk about some good lyrical content.
Catfish and the Bottlemen! Really excited for their forthcoming album.
