Meet Emma, 22 years old from Downey, CA!
“I really liked The Weeknd’s early music and wanted more songs that matched the darker vibes. Now the playlist feels like a kind of collection of songs that are people’s late night thoughts. Hence the name, pm mood.”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Right now it's probably "Ipanema" by Still Woozy. It's such a fun song and I absolutely love that they worked with Omar Apollo.
I can't choose just one, so I'll go with Slenderbodies, Bon Iver, and Hablot Brown. It's hard to go wrong with any of their songs, they're all so good.
If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be? (Dead or alive)
Definitely John Mayer! "Slow Dancing In a Burning Room" and "Gravity" are my favorites by him, he is such a good musician. But he is also such a comedic character. His Instagram and his music video for "New Light" are so funny!
What is the best concert you have ever been to?
The best concert I’ve been to was Honne at The Novo. I got there half an hour before Hablot Brown opened and I somehow ended up getting a front row view to an awesome show with great lighting, and acoustics. There was so much energy in the room and the band did a great job at interacting with the crowd.
Do you have a favorite quote?
My favorite English teacher used to tell us “you can only see as far as your perceptions allow you to see”. I think it's a wise way to go about your life.
Do you play any instruments? If not, any you would love to learn?
I used to be in band up until high school, and I played clarinet, bass clarinet, and tenor sax.
Do you have a life slogan?
I like to remind myself that it’s the little things that make a difference.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
I really don't like any country music, so there's that.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
Obviously a song is good because both the music and lyrics work well together, but most of the time I end up creating my playlists based on the feeling the music gives me. So I’m gonna go ahead and say music.
