Meet Mia Faustina, a 23-year-old from New Zealand.
“I wanted to have all my favorite party songs in one place.”
What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?
I grew up with very little music being played mainly gregorian chants, Mozart, Vivaldi and a tape of my uncle singing the blues. When I was 9 I found my mum's dusty record collection and so my ears were introduced to 70s hits, America and the beach boys. Soon after that I found the radio and I found every song mesmerizing.
Name your top 3 favorite artists and why?
Hiatus Kaiyote - the amount of heart that goes into their music is surreal, I feel like if I was drawn to making sounds I would make music like them. Donna Summer - ah in other words magic that makes my body groove. Arcade Fire - for moments when i'm feeling existential and like I wanna dance...
Do you have a life slogan?
Nope, but if I did, it would be to be able being open to intimacy through human connection, being appreciative of and yet unaffected by emotion and something about walking barefoot.
What artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?
Prince and fingers crossed we'd like each other.
If you were a singer, what current living artist would you like to collaborate with?
Nai Palm from Hiatus Kaiyote because I'd love to soak up her knowledge.
