Meet Kathleen, a 36 year old Spotify playlist curator from Minneapolis, MN…
“I am a Marketing Director from the Twin Cities who is an active cyclist (indoor and spinning), runner and general worker-outer. I am a classically-trained pianist and violinist, and now active karaoke singer. Overall, I love music that makes you (and everyone around you) want to move or dance, and hopefully this playlist does just that for you!”
When & why did you make your playlist?
At first, it was just a quick place to put the songs that I really loved, and heard while out, on the radio or at spin classes. After that, as it started to get more songs, it was the perfect list to play at parties or to send to friends. And it has been fun to see the songs evolve over the last 6 years!
Describe your playlist. Perfect situation(s) for jamming include:
The name says it all. My girl wants to party all the time. So, it's perfect for a spin class, for a daytime pool party, for a pick-me-up when you need to clean, to being a great happy hour /"before we go out for the night" playlist
What was the best concert you've ever attended and why? (Include as many details as you'd like: city / venue / when / with whom...)
Fall Out Boy had a surprise concert on Valentine's Day in Chicago at the Metro in 2007. They released tickets the day of the show, it sold out instantaneously but my friend and I luckily grabbed two, and we had an absolute blast. They were my favorite band at the time, and we were invited to a special section and had seats right next to the stage. It was awesome, and they played such a great show, and were obviously thrilled to be back in their hometown to do it.
What kind of music / artists did you grow up listening to?
A mix of everything! My parents played classical and jazz throughout the house, I really liked anything from Green Day to Ace of Base, and I always had the radio on to see what was new.
Who are your all-time favorite artists and why?
It's a bit of a strange mix. My favorites would include Rod Stewart and Phil Collins/Genesis (the ballads as well as their faster-paced stuff), the corny bands (Journey, Foreigner, Styx for great concerts and perfect karaoke songs) and then recently, anything that is Lizzo or Rihanna. They are awesome, strong women with such fun music
