Meet Michelle, a 20-year-old music lover from Beijing, China.
“At the time, I was a senior in high school. I just got Spotify and my parents were like no way are we gonna pay for Spotify premium so I only had like regular Spotify. With regular Spotify, you could only listen to playlists so I compiled all my favorite tunes into one playlist. Pretty hilarious how far it’s come from there. And I still have it now because I’m often the aux of the party and I just love making playlists and also having this playlist.”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
I would definitely say “Do What I Want” by Lil Uzi. It’s motivational for me to stop caring about what other people think and just kinda do me. I’ve always cared too much about other people’s opinions and I still do for sure but having that song kinda remind me not to is super helpful.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
Happy by Pharrell. I hate that song with a burning passion.
What’s more important to you? Music; or lyrics? Why?
Music for sure. It’s kinda weird, I don’t think I’m that profound as a person to care that much about lyrics. If its a good bar I’ll literally roll in shock but I don’t like discriminate the music if the lyrics are shallow. I love music for everything that it is, not just the lyrics.
I definitely do not have one; that is the most difficult question ever!! I can probably name my favorite artist at the moment and that would be Quinn XCII or Lil Baby. One of my staple artists is A Boogie for sure.
Who is an up and coming artist you think is going to blow up soon?
Lil Tjay for sure; pop out was so catchy and so is Brothers. Also can’t forget about SLIDE with French Montana. That song is a MASTERPIECE.
If you had the chance to interview any artist, who would it be? (dead or alive)
Future. He is the reason I even created this playlist. His music is incredible and he is just such an interesting person that I would want to just get to know.
Last concert you went to?
I’m not sure if this counts but governors ball in NYC. I went to see Playboy Carti and he was SO great live. He knows how to get the audience up.
