Majestic Casual Hip Hop

Meet Ryan Stephen Tabag 35-year-old from Manila, Philippines.
“This playlist is perfect for jiu-jitsu training.”

What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?

My parents were baby boomers. So I was exposed to a lot of the 60s and 70s rock music as a kid. Growing up, I was heavily influenced by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Dave Clark Five, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, The Monkees, Spiral Staircase, Sly & the Family Stone, Chicago, and Led Zeppelin.

Name one of your favorite albums of all time?

Hard to choose one because I literally listen to a lot of genres, hip-hop and lo-fi stuff included. But if we're talking about modern rock music, it would probably be The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium.

Do you play any instruments? If no, which instrument do you wish you could play?

I play drums for my band RIOT. We're heavily influenced by At the Drive-In, Blink 182, and The Ramones. You can search for our tracks on Spotify.

Name your favorite artist and why?

I would choose Travis Barker. He's one of the most dynamic drummers around, and probably the first one to mix punk with hip-hop in his chops.

Do you have a life slogan?

Live fast, die fun.
