Meet Andrew Potter Jr. a 21-year-old from Toledo, Ohio.
“I made this playlist to keep track of songs for myself, recently it's been to also help promote some smaller artists that I like more!”
What artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?
Kid Cudi is a huge inspiration to me personally. He seems like a funny guy, open about his feelings and admits where he’s made mistakes. Plus he’s got a knack for great beats, and in all the interviews I've seen he’s really mellow and approachable.
Name your top 3 favorite artists and why?
#1 Kid Cudi: his music can change my mood in one song. Plus there’s some nostalgia from growing up. #2 Toby Keith: I'm actually a huge country music fan, Toby has the talent to go from funny songs to emotional ballads and then back to rock and roll. There is a Toby Keith song for every occasion. #3 A P O L L O: or at least that's his name on Spotify, he’s got such a clean flow and awesome beats. Dude has a song on Spotify called "high tide" go listen right now. The man blows me away with every new drop so I'm just anxiously waiting for a full album.
Do you have a life slogan?
Do something today that makes tomorrow better than yesterday. It's easy to focus on what needs to be done or what you didn’t do. Focusing on the task at hand, and realizing that doing some is always better than none has helped me feel like life matters more.
What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?
Growing up I was truly blessed with a variety of music. My mom liked anything with a good beat, whether it be like Hootie and the Blowfish, Matchbox 20, DMX, Eminem, or say Tha Dogg Pound. Dad was a child of the 80s, so Rush, Iron Maiden and Beastie Boys were big; he’s also a huge ABBA and Iggy fan too. So my parents had a pretty wide variety of music, then I was in a school orchestra which let me experience classical and jazz music. The shorty answer to this question is everything. From backyard indy rock and underground rap to grandmas gospel music I heard it all on a regular basis.
Do you play any instruments? If no, which instrument do you wish you could play?
Short and sweet, I play bass guitar and double bass (used to be good lol). I could also rip a mean recorder solo in grade school.
