Meet Anna Hommes from Denver, CO.
“I created this playlist as a compromise with my kids. They kept asking to listen to the same 3 songs from Frozen. I thought I might lose my mind if I didn't come up with another solution. Over the last three years, I have curated the playlist to include songs that they love and that I don't mind either. Many of the songs remind us of specific experiences we shared like a movie we saw together, a friend's birthday party, or one of the kid's dance shows. My kids are learning Spanish at school too so we have included lots of songs in Spanish. Mostly though, the feeling of the songs is key. If a song isn't fun, if they don't want to sing it at the top of their lungs, then that song is not going to make the cut.”

Favorite artist?
I have always loved Shakira. I definitely had "Hips don't lie" as my ringtone in the 2000s but too many of her songs are inappropriate for small children. Lately, I've been really into Jenny & the Mexicats. They have all the fun and Latin vibes with much less overt sexuality. There are just some things you don't want to hear from a toddler's mouth
What is the best concert you have ever been to?
One of my first dates with my husband was a Regina Spektor concert. We sat in the front row and she was AMAZING live. I'll never forget that night for so many reasons. Especially because that was the night I realized that this guy is a keeper!
Do you have a life slogan?
I steal a lot of my inspiration from Brene Brown. I especially love "Let go of who you think you're supposed to be; embrace who you are."
What is the most annoying song in the world?
"I'm a Gummy Bear" was a song that the kids liked for a minute but drove me totally nuts! Not surprisingly, this song never made the cut for Kids Dance Party.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
Music! Definitely! Music has the power to change moods and transport us to other places and times. Lyrics are great, but if the music isn't good, who cares what they're saying?
