Meet Olivia, a 19 year old Spotify playlist curator from Largo, Florida..
“I wanted to have something to jam out to... I'm a huge fan of classic rock, but I wasn't finding a lot of playlists on Spotify that had the songs I wanted, so I decided to make my own. Several bands have contacted me asking if they could be featured on my playlist. I have to turn them down, because most if not all the music comes from the 60s to 80s era and I wanted to keep that vintage, nosalgic feel.”
Tell me a little about yourself - Do you make music? Why do you love music?
Currently, no. But I would love to write and preform a song one day. Music to me is an antidote to all my problems. If I'm ever having a bad day, I just turn on one of my favorite songs and it helps get me into a much better mood. Music speaks to me on a deep level, the feeling I get when I relate to a lyric so much it feels like it was written for me is one of the best feelings ever.
What is the best concert you have attended?
Name a song that has been on 'repeat'
The Spanish Version of Bailando by Enrique Iglesias. As a proud Mexicana, I decided to learn the song of my people, but I don't speak Spanish that well (still learning) so I had to listen to the song over and over again to get every word down until I knew it by heart.
I just started listening to Lil Dicky, a Caucasian lyricist (a white rapper). Dude is hilarious and is really talented. He brings a whole new energy of rap to the table, his songs are a lot different than other rap I've heard. I'm a big fan of Panic! At the Disco and I saw he did a song with Brendon Urie, so I checked out some of his other stuff and I've been hooked ever since. He seems really genuine and he's very creative with his lyrics and videos. Dude is mad funny and his ability to feature big name celebrities is astounding.
If you were an artist, who would you love to collaborate and make music with?
I would love to collab with Adam Lambert. He is criminally underrated, he has an amazing voice and he is a true icon. I've always been a fan of his music and he seems like he would give the same vibrant energy I need in my life. I feel like our voices would match well together and we could make the next pop hit.
What song do you know the words to, but hate to listen to?
