Meet Kieran Tran, a 20-year-old full-time-student majoring in business and events management from Sydney, Australia. He loves learning how to mix music (especially after investing $100s - *R.I.P. wallet*) and after new events are announced, he also loves making playlists to hype everyone up.
“My playlist features a variety of songs from the UK Hardcore, Hardstyle, Raw and Frenchcore scene.
I made my playlist in January this year to hype myself and my friends up for the upcoming Hardcore Till I Die event that was being held on Australia day this year. I’ve been making playlists for each event ever since early 2018 and my HTID playlist was the first one to ever blow up like this and this made me want to create more for all future events.”

What kind of music did you grow up listening to?

I grew up listening to a lot of EDM and pop with Avicii and Coldplay being two of favourite artists. I also had multiple phases including an old-school RnB and Hip-Hop phase, which I still revisit till this day.

What was the best concert you’ve ever attended?

The best event i’ve been to has to be Ultra Sydney this year. This was the first time a major EDM event was held in Sydney since the cancellation of Stereosonic and my friends and I were so excited to attend our first EDM event. We all dressed up in Hawaiian clothing with everyone wearing floral tops and a couple of the guys, including myself, rocking up in coconut bra’s and grass skirts with me getting questioned by security at one point about whether the bras were even allowed into the event. This event had to be the best for me because it was so different from the usual hardstyle raves we usually get and it also featured an amazing lineup including Martin Garrix, Marshmello and, my favourite set from the night, The Chainsmokers. The new environment that Ultra provided brought out another side of my friends and I where all of us would be whipping out new dance moves and just having an amazing time with non-stop dancing from the start till the end.

First concert you attended?

The first I attended was Coldplay’s back when they were touring for their new A Head Full of Dreams album. Being a huge Coldplay fan I had to buy premium standing tickets as soon as they were released and it was one of the best nights of my life.

Last concert you attended?

The latest concert i’ve attended wasn’t really a concert but more of a rave. It was HSU’s I Am Hardstyle event that was held last month. Even though the event happened in the middle of my uni exams, one of my favourite DJ’s, Phuture Noize, was attending so it had to be an instant purchase for me and I did not regret the decision at all. The event fulfilled my expectations and I still managed to pass all my exams.

Who are your all-time favorite artists and why?

It has to be Coldplay, Phuture Noize and Darren Styles. Coldplay because I grew up listening to their music and I have always been able to relate to their songs. Phuture Noize has to be my favourite hardstyle DJ because of his uniqueness and the new type of style he’s bringing to the hardstyle scene with every new song he releases. Finally with happy hardcore being my favourite genre of music, Darren Styles has to be one of my favourites simply because he’s the king of happy hardcore and he’s always releasing bangers after bangers.

Name one of your favorite albums of all time -

Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay. This album was the first Coldplay album I had listened to and it was so different from their other music because of how uplifting and happy the album was. And it also features my favourite Coldplay song 'Charlie Brown'.

Name a song(s) you have listened to on repeat –

Charlie Brown by Coldplay, Never Let Me Down by Darren Styles and the entire Black Mirror Society album by Phuture Noize

Any interesting new artist(s) you've been listening to recently?

I’ve discovered a lot of new happy hardcore artists after doing tonnes of research into the genre. I’ve discovered artists like Alex Prospect, Rob IYF, Callum Higby, and also artists from other genres like Kayzo with his trap and Anderex with his raw.
