hip hop hits of the early 2000s

Meet Shannah, 23 Year old from Nashville, TN.
“I made this playlist for situations and gatherings where you need reliable crowd pleasers that are sure to evoke a perfect storm of nostalgia, comfort, and hype. Sometimes you just need to play songs where everyone is pretty much guaranteed to know all the words, regardless of their taste in music. Plus it’s pretty magical when the whole room knows all the words to a song and can belt it out as a group.”

What is the best concert you've ever been to?

Hands down the Skrillex & Friends Superjam at Bonnaroo 2014. For the unacquainted, Bonnaroo does these once in a lifetime, themed collaboration shows where they bring together a bunch of artists on their lineup to curate performances that are always full of surprises and unlike anything you'll see or hear anywhere else. This one was a 3hr set called Skrillex & Friends, curated by Skrillex himself and featuring  a revolving cast of guest stars, including Janelle Monáe, A$AP Ferg, Warpaint, Zedd, The Doors’ Robby Krieger, New Orleans rapper Mystikal, Damian Marley, Thundercat, Big Gigantic, and Cage the Elephant’s Matt Shultz. The show ended with a surprise set from Ms. Lauryn Hill. It started an hour late but was well worth the wait....I had a spot up towards the front and could smell the incense they were burning onstage. The energy in the crowd was unlike any other show I've been to, overall an absolutely unforgettable experience.

Name one of your favorite albums of all time:

Sound & Color by the Alabama Shakes

Do you have a life slogan?

“Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”...basically that you become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time around, so you’d better make sure these people are people you like and respect.

Do you have a hidden talent?

I’ve been a competitive Irish dancer since I was 8 years old, and I still train and compete as an adult!

Name your top 3 favorite artists and why?

1) Cherub- an electronic-indie duo from Nashville. The artist I’ve seen live more times than any other act (11 times, to be exact). The hometown pride and connection definitely contributes to my borderline obsession with their music. They also have incredible stage presence and know how to connect with a crowd.

2) The Head & The Heart- if I had to just 3 artists to listen to for the rest of my life, I’d pick Head and the Heart at least twice.

3) Daniel Caesar- R&B singer with the voice of an actual angel. Also just an all around genuine, humble guy.
