Meet Gabrielle Scalzo, a 22-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky.
“I made this playlist in high school...I was going to Bernheim Park a bunch and Louisville is so pretty in the fall, I decided to make a playlist that I liked to listen to while visiting the park.”
What do you do?
I’m in the Engineering program at The University of Louisville
Which parent had more influence on your music taste?
My dad for sure. His dad worked at Stacks Records in Memphis, Tennessee, so music was always in the family. My dad also has a studio in the basement where he plays guitar.
What is the most recent concert you’ve been to? And the best concert you’ve been to?
Portugal the Man at The Palace is the most recent. It’s between Cage the Elephant and The Black Keys, both were awesome.
What was your favorite music project from 2018?
Probably anything ASAP Rocky, or Post Malone.
What artist have you been listening to a lot lately?
Sam Cooke actually, because I just watched his documentary on Netflix. Leon Bridges as well because he’s like a modern-day Sam Cooke, same style.
If you were a musician and you could choose any artist dead or alive to collaborate with, who would it be and why?
Probably one of the Beatles or Buddy Holly. It would be really cool to talk to them about what they were going through when they were breaking out as an artist.
