Meet Tracy, a 29 year old Spotify playlist curator from New York City…
“I’m a cosplayer, community director, and anime nerd just sharing music and awkward memes all day. This playlist helps the community I work with at Elsewhere connect in a new way beyond our meme content.”
When & why did you make your playlist?
I work with the community of a meme editing app called Elsewhere and I made the playlist for our followers who are always in our DMs asking me about music I feature in our Instagram stories which were a mix of songs in my private chill playlists. I realized I had a chance to introduce them to a mix of artists they don't get a chance to hear everyday. A year later it grew and people are often telling me how much they listen to it often when creating content be it memes, streams, art projects, etc.
Describe your playlist. Perfect situation(s) for jamming include:
This playlist is all about being chill- dropping the creative block and letting it be your background soundtrack to whatever you're working on.
What was the best concert you've ever attended and why? (Include as many details as you'd like: city / venue / when / with whom...)
Chon, a math rock band that performed in Brooklyn a while back. I tried to add in some math rock bands here and there in the playlist since I know those bands don't get the attention i think they deserve.
What kind of music / artists did you grow up listening to?
I grew up listening to a weird mix of artists like Bjork, System Of A Down, Led Zeppelin, A Tribe Called Quest, Primus, anything on the Tony Hawk video game soundtracks lol I've always been all over the place
Who are your all-time favorite artists and why?
This list is way too long - I gravitate to things that like the playlist help when I'm in a creative block. Right now that's a heavy rotation of Burbank, A perfect circle, Nujabes, Boy Hits Car, and Allan Kingdom
