Meet OMZ, a 34 year old topline vocalist for dance-pop and EDM producers & Spotify playlist curator from Los Angeles, California.
"Be kind, in all ways, always."
What initially inspired you to make your playlist and when did you first make it?
I'm a dance-pop/ EDM vocalist, but I'm also a fan of the genre, and I was finding it incredibly hard to find really good dance-pop/ EDM songs aside from the super played out mainstream stuff that currently lives on the billboard charts and pop radio... So I took it upon myself to start seeking out brilliant independent artists that are making the music I love. (Then I added some of the songs that I've released, that I'm most proud of into the mix as well).
Describe your playlist. Perfect setting(s) for vibing out to it include:
What kind of music/artists did you grow up listening to?
I started getting into music seriously during the 90s which was the golden era of hip hop as well as the historic rise of Grunge and Alternative Rock. I loved it all, Tupac, Nas, Wu-Tang, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Silverchair, The Red Hot Chill Peppers, Blind Melon, Oasis (and don't tell anyone, but... The Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and N Sync also had a special place in my pop-loving heart)
What was the best concert you've ever attended and why?
I was 13 and it was an outdoor music festival called Lollapalooza. Many of the best bands of the 90s were there. It was epic. (Honourable mentions to Incubus, Coldplay, The Foo Fighters, and Marilyn Manson... all amazingly memorable shows!)
