Meet Thomas, 22 years old from The Netherlands.
“I created my playlist when I first started to actively listen to music on Youtube. The first channel I followed was Monstercat and I really liked the drumstep genre back then. I listened to all the drumstep songs I could find on Monstercat and added every song I liked to my playlist. These days drumstep isn't popular anymore. This small hobby has gotten a bit out of hand and the playlist currently contains 2700 songs. Since I created my playlist in 2014, I have updated it regularly with the music I like.”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
There isn't one specific song which is special to me. However, one of the songs I came across in the early days of my playlist is Galantis - Gold Dust (Illenium Remix). A very nice and calming melodic dubstep song which is sadly not available on Spotify.
Illenium and EDEN will be my favorite artists for now. They both produce insane music and I have been following them for a while. They are worth checking out and both totally different artists.
If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be? (Dead or alive)
Definitely EDEN. His music is always telling a story about his life and I would love to know more about him.
What is the best concert you have ever been to?
I don't attend many concerts, but I really like the concert of Bastille I went to this year. Great band.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“Where words fail, music speaks.”
Do you play any instruments? If not, any you would love to learn?
I don't play any instruments, but I would like to learn to play the piano someday.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
Most music I listen to is more focused on music and doesn't contain many lyrics. However, for me it really depends on what kind of music I'm listening to and if the focus is on lyrics or the music itself. Currently, I'm listening to a lot of house music and most of them are solely focused on music and not on lyrics. When I'm listening to songs of, for example, EDEN I focus more on the lyrics.
