Depression :/

Depression :/

Meet Antonio, a 24 year old Spotify playlist curator from Detroit, MI.
“This playlist started as a way for me to cope with my own depression in high school. I was best able to express my emotions through the music I would listen to. Now I continue to add to it and make it better to help others like me.”

If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be?

Definitely Tyler Joseph from Twenty One Pilots. No other band has hit me on an emotional level as they have.

Do you have a hidden talent?

My joint rolling skills are pretty on point.

Do you play any instruments? If no, which instrument do you wish you could play?

Drums for sure! I tried when I was a kid but 3-5 minutes into my first lesson the teacher said, “You are completely unteachable, you have no rhythm” and left. I tried playing the alto sax in middle school but that went worse than the drums.

Do you have a favorite quote?

“It’s ok to not be ok”. Not sure who said it, but we as a society to learn to accept all emotions. It’s unhealthy to be happy all the time. If you suppress all your negative emotions eventually you’ll either snap or you’ll become numb to everything.

What's more important to you: music or lyrics? Why?

This is the hardest question to answer because it’s not like either the music or lyrics make or break a song. Either one can make a song phenomenal without including the other at all. Lyrics take a lot of thought and really have a way to hit deep and be creative with the use of double entendres and metaphors but the music transcends language.
