Meet Mackenzie, a 19 year old Spotify playlist curator from Milroy, PA…
“I'm actually a radio DJ! Been working in radio for five years when, as a lucky 14 year old, I landed a job as a board operator. Now I work as a host for a morning show on an 80's station, I get to hear literally some of the best music ever made, all day long!”

When & why did you make your playlist?

I made it about a year and a half to two years ago. Originally I started it as a joke, since I had no place to sort all the weird poppy-alternative type of music I listen to occasionally. I realized that it kinda represented what it's like to be bi, just kind of falling in love with everything in one place.

Describe your playlist. Perfect situation(s) for jamming include:

Windows down blasting on the highway, hanging out with friends in the backyard, jamming alone in your room, it's pretty perfect for any situation!

What was the best concert you've ever attended and why? (Include as many details as you'd like: city / venue / when / with whom...)

I just recently saw my favorite band, Death Cab for Cutie, in Harrisburg a couple months ago. The energy they had with the crowd was mesmerizing. They pulled a 7 minute impromptu instrumental solo in We Looked Like Giants that really captivated me. I wish I could go back.

What kind of music / artists did you grow up listening to?

I grew up listening to a mix of everything from classic rock and heavy metal all the way to mainstream pop and mid 2000s alt hits

Who are your all-time favorite artists and why?

Death Cab, their music has really connected with people's deepest indescribable emotions and put them into an expressable form. I also really love Alt J, everything is composed so intricately and deliberately to make these kind of ethereal songs that ring in your head long after they're over
