Meet Tezcan Mert, a Spotify playlist curator from the UK.
“I am a geographer and a piano teacher, 50 years old, living in Manchester, United Kingdom.”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Here’s to Life - Phyllis Jean Molinary / Artie Butler.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
I cannot think of a specific one, but the songs with meaningless (and repetitive) lyrics usually pretty annoying to me.
What’s more important to you? Music or lyrics? Why?
Music always comes first although I think good lyrics can enrich the song. I can listen easily to songs with beautiful music in languages that I do not understand. I think music affects me more than the lyrics. I notice the music first and sometimes even do not listen to the lyrics. If the song is very beautiful and I want to sing it, then I search for the lyrics and try to learn it.
Difficult to answer. I do not have one favorite but many favorites in different styles. This is why I enjoy creating Spotify playlists.
If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be? (Dead or alive)
Dmitriy Hvorostovsky or Andrea Bocelli.
The last concert I attended was a classical concert where the Orchestra of St. John’s performed Schubert’s Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Stabat Mater and Bach’s Cantata 82 at the Dorchester Abbey, Oxfordshire on 19 April.
