Meet Devon Maurice, an 18 year old from Auckland, New Zealand.
“I made this playlist as a way to show the different stages of my life expressed through music of which I have been working on since 2014 in the hope others could relate, listen and enjoy the sounds of my life!”

What music did you listen to growing up as a kid?

As a ‘01 baby, I was brought up listening to Black Eyed Peas and Jason Derulo in my younger years which slowly progressed with time to a huge variety of artists and genres from Frank Ocean to Eminem.

If you were a singer, what current living artist would you love to collaborate with?

If I were to collaborate with anyone currently in the industry it would 100% be the Weeknd, such an inspiration in my life.

Do you play an instrument? If no, what instrument would you love to learn?

I would love to learn to play the drums, some amazing sounds come of those sets!

What is the best concert you've ever been to?

The Weeknd’s Legend of the Fall tour comes out on top as the best, most amazing, crowd driven, and emotional concerts!

Do you have a life slogan?

"Everything happens for a reason"

Name your top 3 favorite artist and why?

Frank Ocean, his music is beautiful, inspiring, relaxing, and different. I have always been a big fan.

The Weeknd for his amazing array of music. I can easily listen to any one of his many songs and love it. So many emotions when listening to his music, love his brand, and everything he's about!

Kanye West, controversial, but like me, his music has changed over time, he hasn't tried to be someone he's not. Amazing music and style.

If you could interview any artist, dead or alive, who would you interview and why?

I would interview Xxxtentacion, his newer music is some of the deepest and most influential I have experienced. Along with his change in music so close to his death it would be interesting to see what his thoughts truly are.

What is more important to you, music or lyrics? Why?

I want to say both depending on my mood but I will say Lyrics as when you're in a bad place lyrics from songs can help so much more than just a good beat. Those like J.Cole and the Weeknd who can put so much meaning into their lyrics whilst consistently maintaining a good sound are a huge inspiration.
