Meet Adam Gonzalez, 23 years old from Illinois.
“It started out as a small collection of songs I heard on YouTube travel videos. I started getting more and more in to photography and videography and the collection kept growing. All of a sudden, one day I checked it and it had probably 400 followers. I was glad to see other people enjoying my playlist so I kept it going. Since then, my hobbies of photography and videography have had to be put to the side as I work in finance and don’t have that much free time anymore. I would never have thought my playlist would climb to almost 2000 followers and a company would be writing a blog on it! ”
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Toes - Zac Brown Band. If I could, I’d hang out on the beach everyday with my friends just enjoying life and having a good time. The song just feels like vacation.
What’s more important to you? Music; or Lyrics? Why?
Definitely, the music. While the lyrics are nice, if the beat is off the song isn’t going to be good. Look, nowadays, some artists are repetitive and say really nothing the whole song, but everyone knows the song is a banger. I really like all kinds of music: rap, country, edm, punk rock, you name it. And I think because I listen to a wide variety of genres, it’s just easier to get in the mood feeling the music, rather than analyzing the lyrics.
Favorite artist? Top 5?
For most people, that’s an easy question. To me? Impossible. But at this moment (in no particular order): Juice WRLD, Quinn XCII, Illenium, Aries, and Jon Bellion. The wild card would be old Marshmello, still listen to his music all the time, but he’s getting too mainstream and his music isn’t the same. But then again, that list changes as my music tastes come and go. If I was feeling country right now I might have said Chase Rice, Luke Combs, Old Dominion...
I really enjoy finding new music through SoundCloud, Spotify, and YouTube. I’ve always enjoyed finding artists and watching them blow up over the years. For example, I found Marshmello in 2016 with “Alone”, saw him live at UME South Padre 2017 and the rest was history.
If you had the chance to interview an artist, who would it be? (Dead or alive) and why?
100% Jon Bellion. The Human Condition was and is still one of my favorite albums I’ve ever heard. Jon Bellion uploads videos on YouTube , sort of documentary style, about how he produces his songs. Those videos amaze me how everything just falls in to place in his head. Hand of God, the outro song on THC, he took a small part of every song in the album and tied them all in to one. He truly has a talent and it shows through his music.
The last concert I attended was Lollapalooza
