2019 R&B

Meet Katelyn, 18 years old from Boston, MA.
“I created my playlist so that I could store any songs that catch my attention and have a great beat. I like going through different artists, mainstream & underground, and finding music that fits my taste.”

What music did you grow up listening to as a young kid?

Growing up, my house was always bumping with 70s/80s/90s pop music. My dad and I would just be jamming with the stereos blaring "Earth, Wind & Fire". The 70s is definitely my favorite decade, I really value the theme of upbeat music that you can dance like you're at the Disco.

Name one of your favorite albums of all time?

TRAPSOUL by Bryson Tiller. Tons of bops on there.

What is the best concert you've ever been to?

Honestly, a kpop concert for a group called Seventeen. They have fun, upbeat music and they're really great at synchronized dancing which is everything i love. They had a great energy which I was really living for.

Do you have a life slogan?

In order to have a positive outcome, you need a positive outlook.

Name your top 3 favorite artist and why?

1) BRYSON TILLER 100%, his music slaps. On God, he deserves everything. His rhythm is really smooth and flows nicely, I enjoy all of his songs. Not only that but his beats are always fresh. 2) Jay Park. He's a Korean hip hop artist and his music is usually funky. He also has a nice rhythm and charming voice. I found him through "All I Wanna Do" (highly recommend (the Korean version tho)) and since then I've been following his work. 3) Chris Brown. I really love his music, it's always fun to dance and groove to. He has a good vibe in his music and I love how smooth his voice is.
