Meet Reuben, a 19 year old Spotify playlist curator from Australia.
“I have always believed my taste in music was weird and an acquired taste and i think that this playlist truly captures that.”

What made you make this playlist?

- I made this playlist back in my final year of highschool just after i heard Post Malones ' Stoney' and started to add songs that were big at the time and hits that came out post 2010. After that i started to remember songs and albums that i listened to when i was a kid such as Kanye's Graduation, Eminem's Recovery and Childish Gambino's 'Camp' as well as as 'because the internet'. Songs such as Homecoming, Cold Wind Blows and Bonfire had always stuck with me as i grew up and the playlist began to become sort of nostalgic for me. I have always believed my taste in music was weird and an acquired taste and i think that this playlist truly captures that.

How would you describe this playlist and you?

- The playlist consists of various artists that i grew up listening to such as Kanye West, Eminem, Childish Gambino, Tyler the Creator as well as artists who i have listened to recently and appreciated their style and message that they try to portray through there lyrics. Im always interested in finding artists who i think are unique to the genre and i obsess over how they change the game . For example, BROCKHAMPTON in my opinion have changed the game so much since they started out. In this playlist i also have included some Australian artists who i think are going to blow up soon because of they way their music is produced as well their rapping style. Artists such as Manu Crooks, Kwame and groups such as Triple One and ONEFOUR are some of the artists that are paving a way for the Australian rap scene to go global.

Who are a few of your favorite new and upcoming artists?

- YBN Cordae, Slowthai, Triple One

Are there any current dreams or aspirations?

- An aspiration of mine is to learn how to play the piano and a dream would be able to spend a day with BROCKHAMPTON in the studio.
